The fitting has two equal-size main-run sockets and one reduced branch socket. Embedded resistance heating coils inside each fusion zone generate heat when connected to a compatible electrofusion control unit. This fuses the fitting and HDPE pipe surfaces together to form a durable, leak-tight and corrosion-resistant connection after cooling.

An HDPE Electrofusion Reducing Tee is a three-way fitting used to connect a smaller branch line to a larger HDPE main line. The two straight-through outlets are the same nominal diameter, while the branch outlet is smaller.
This fitting is commonly used when a distribution line, service connection, irrigation branch or process line must be taken from a main pipeline without using a separate reducer and equal tee. Its compact design helps simplify pipeline layouts and reduces the number of joints required.
During installation, all pipe surfaces in the fusion zones are scraped, cleaned, dried and inserted into the fitting to the specified depth. The electrofusion control unit supplies the fusion energy through the fitting terminals. Once the heating and cooling cycles are complete, the pipe and fitting materials form a homogeneous fusion joint.
