• An HDPE Butt Fusion End Cap, also known as an HDPE Pipe Cap, is used to close the end of an HDPE pipe by butt fusion welding. The end cap is clamped into a butt fusion machine together with the pipe, and the matching faces are trimmed, heated and joined under controlled pressure.

  
  After the specified cooling period, the pipe and fitting form a continuous PE joint without threaded connections, mechanical seals or metal components in the fusion zone. This creates a durable end closure for HDPE pipelines.

  
  Unlike an electrofusion end cap, this product does not contain electrical terminals or embedded resistance coils. It is specifically designed for butt fusion installation.

Butt Fusion Installation Guidelines

• Installation should be completed by trained personnel using a suitable butt fusion machine.

  1. 1. Confirm that the pipe and end cap have matching OD, SDR and material grade.
  2. 2. Clamp the HDPE pipe and end cap securely into the butt fusion machine.
  3. 3. Face both fusion surfaces until they are clean, flat, square and free from oxidation.
  4. 4. Check alignment and make sure there is no unacceptable offset or gap.
  5. 5. Heat both surfaces using the heater plate according to the approved welding procedure.
  6. 6. Remove the heater plate within the specified changeover time.
  7. 7. Join the pipe and end cap under the required fusion pressure.
  8. 8. Maintain pressure throughout the required cooling period.
  9. 9. Inspect the fusion bead for uniformity before placing the pipeline into service.

  Do not use generic fusion parameters in place of the approved procedure for the actual pipe, fitting, wall thickness and machine.
